Prince Diponegoro died because of his physical condition which has increasingly declined due to old age. He also died in his place of exile, Rotterdam Fortress Makassar on January 8, 1855.
The body of Prince Diponegoro was rested in Makassar, precisely in the Malay area. At that time, Diponegoro's wife and son who also lived in Makassar said that they wanted to stay there and live near his father's grave.
30 years later, in 1855 Diponegoro's wife Raden Ayu Retnoningsih passed away.
